About the Role

1) Supervises staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work; conducts performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment; and making hiring, termination and disciplinary recommendations
2) Maintains effective communication between the General Manager, Chief of Staff and the media; coordinates briefing sessions and meetings; distributes correspondences to departments; and prepares response statements to departments, outside agencies and citizens.
3) Coordinates travel plans for the General Manager. Sets travel calendar, and travels with the General Manager
4) Coordinates contacts with media; prepares background information and press statements; and communicates with media on behalf of the General Manager.
5) Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints
6) Reviews incoming mail; handles or routes mail; and directs the preparation of letters, memoranda, and other correspondence.
7) Represents the Support Office of the General Manager on a variety of boards and committees; attends and participates in meetings; and stays abreast of issues and policies affecting the organization
8) Coordinates special events and functions; contacts community groups and organizations for input; and participates in special events
9) Conducts studies of operational issues; prepares recommendations on results; and evaluates recommended changes on organization, policy and procedures.
10) Performs other duties as assigned by the Chief of Staff to the Office of General Manager.

Requirements

Ø  Education: Candidate must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. A bachelor’s degree in business administration or Management may also be required.

Ø  Constitutional Requirements: Candidate must be a general member of the Eagles Membership Association for at least three (3) fiscal years in good standing

Ø  Experience: Candidate must have at least three years of senior leadership and/or management.

Ø  Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondences and memos, ability to write and speak English well, ability to effectively present information in one on one and group situations to staff members and the general public.

Ø  General Skills: Ability to calculate figures and apply concepts of basic math, ability to correctly use office equipment, accurate typing skills and computer knowledge. Neat and legible handwriting and ability to keep accurate and organized records. Passionate about the mission and vision of the Indian Forest Companies Incorporated. Position Summary

The Deputy Chief of Staff, a member of the Support Office of the General Manager, is responsible for providing leadership to the Support Office of the General Manager and supporting the Chief of Staff to the Office of General Manager.
